2. Kids' Crafts: Soapmaking: 50 Fun & Fabulous Soaps to Melt & Pour by Joe Rhatigan

Actually, there are over 50 recipes/preojcts in this book. While it's geared towards kids, it contains fun for all ages with easy-to-make soap projects for all members of the family, including the dog. Lots of good bits of trivia, color theory and soapy information too. A great book for a parent soap maker who's trying to get their child excited about soap making - or for a grade schooler looking for some great craft (or even business) projects.

3. Experiments with Soap by Salvatore Tocci

Great information about the history of soap, how soap cleans, what makes soap burn your eyes, and more. A very basic book for early readers and budding young scientists.

4. Soap Science by J.L. Bell

This book not only answers "What is soap?" but "Where did it come from?", "Why do we need to wash?", "Why soap floats?" and a myriad of bubble-related questions. There is also a great section on pioneer soap and the history of soap making. A more advanced book than "Soap Science" by Salvatore Tocci, but a much more complete one.
