(Not) Down the Drain

But It's Just Water - Right?

By David Fisher, About.com

No matter how tempting, or how careful you've been during your candle making session, don't pour the hot water from your double boiler setup down the drain. Though you may not see any wax floating on the top, even the most careful of us will have dripped a little wax into the water at some point. These small droplets of still-melted wax are hard to see. If poured down the drain, over time they can cause a major clog. Either discard the water outside, or wait until the water has cooled. Once cool, you'll be able to see the hardened wax and remove it from the pot before you pour the water out.
